Solar Installation Cost in Nigeria (2026): Real Prices for Flats, Duplexes and Offices

Quick answer
At current IVOLTE prices, a fully installed solar system with 8 hours of backup costs about ₦2,005,000 for a mini flat or shop, ₦4,685,000 for a 3-bedroom flat, and ₦10,855,000 for a duplex running two inverter ACs. These figures include the inverter, batteries, panels, cabling, protection and labour.
"How much is solar?" is the first question every homeowner asks, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you want to power and for how long. To make that useful, we ran the most common Nigerian homes through our solar calculator. These are the installed totals at our current prices.
Solar installation cost by home type
All systems use Felicity Solar inverters, LiFePO4 lithium batteries (tubular batteries on the smallest 24V systems) and 580W bifacial panels, sized for 8 hours of backup.
| Home | System | Installed price |
|---|---|---|
| Mini flat / shop632W peak load | 3.2kW 24V Felicity inverter, 4× 12V 220Ah tubular batteries (24V bank), 3× 580W bifacial solar panels | ₦2,005,000 |
| 3-bed flat2,054W peak load | 6kW 48V Felicity inverter, 2× 5.12kWh 48V LiFePO4 battery, 6× 580W bifacial solar panels | ₦4,685,000 |
| Duplex with AC5,130W peak load | 8kW 48V Felicity inverter, 1× 15.7kWh 48V LiFePO4 battery + 2× 5.12kWh 48V LiFePO4 battery, 18× 580W bifacial solar panels | ₦10,855,000 |
| Small office3,782W peak load | 6kW 48V Felicity inverter, 1× 15.7kWh 48V LiFePO4 battery + 1× 5.12kWh 48V LiFePO4 battery, 16× 580W bifacial solar panels | ₦8,605,000 |

Where the money goes
Batteries: the biggest cost
For most homes, batteries are 40–60% of the bill, because they set how long you stay powered at night. A 5kWh Felicity lithium battery is ₦1,150,000 and a 15kWh pack is ₦3,200,000.
Inverter
Inverters range from ₦380,000 for a 3.2kW unit to ₦1,750,000 for 12kW. Not sure which you need? Read what size inverter do I need.
Solar panels
Each 580W bifacial panel costs ₦145,000. Bifacial panels also collect light reflected onto their back, which helps on light-coloured roofs.
Installation, cabling and protection
This covers DC and AC cabling, breakers, surge protection, a changeover, mounting rails and labour. We price it at roughly 12% of the equipment cost plus a fixed site fee, and it is included in every total above.
Lithium vs tubular batteries: which is cheaper long term?
Tubular lead-acid batteries cost less upfront, so they still make sense for small 24V systems. For anything bigger, lithium wins:
- Usable capacity: you can safely use about 90% of a LiFePO4 battery, but only about 50% of a lead-acid one.
- Lifespan: quality LiFePO4 batteries are rated for thousands of cycles, several times more than tubular batteries.
- Maintenance: no distilled water top-ups and no acid fumes.
- Charging speed: lithium recharges faster, so short sunny spells count for more.
How to reduce your solar cost
- Cut your load first. Switch to LED bulbs, an inverter fridge and inverter ACs. Every watt you save means less battery and fewer panels.
- Be realistic about backup hours. Going from 12 hours to 8 hours can save millions. Compare the duplex at 8 hours (₦10,855,000) with 12 hours (₦13,965,000).
- Keep heavy loads off solar at night. Run the pump, washing machine and iron during the day, straight from the panels.
- Start with the right inverter. Buy a 48V inverter big enough for later, then add lithium batteries in stages.
Is solar cheaper than running a generator?
For most homes, yes, within a few years. A generator costs you fuel every single day, plus servicing, noise and fumes. Solar is a one-time investment, with batteries as the main part that eventually needs replacing. The more hours you currently run a generator, the faster solar pays for itself.

Frequently asked questions
How much does solar installation cost for a 3-bedroom flat in Nigeria?
At current IVOLTE prices, a 3-bedroom flat with a fridge, freezer and pump costs about ₦4,685,000 fully installed with 8 hours of backup.
What is the cheapest solar system for a small house?
A mini flat with lights, fans, a TV, a laptop and a fridge costs about ₦1,370,000 installed for 4 hours of backup, using a 3.2kW 24V inverter and tubular batteries.
Can solar power an air conditioner in Nigeria?
Yes. Inverter ACs work well on solar. A duplex running two 1.5HP inverter ACs needs about an 8kW inverter, and the cost depends mostly on how many night hours you want.
Are lithium batteries worth it?
For most homes, yes. LiFePO4 batteries give about 90% usable capacity, last several times longer than tubular batteries and need no maintenance.
